Sigmund of Tyrol Armour ======================= Fully historical hand-crafted Gothic armour. This late 15th century harness is comfortably wearable and like a museum piece comes complete with stand and sword. This full armour is $11,000 USD with simple trim (as shown), and $15,000 with complete historical piercework of fleur-de-lis everywhere, or in complete 18 ga steel and piercework trim for $18,000 . The original suit is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Duke Siegmund of Tyrol married Katherina of Saxony in 1484. Also called Sigmund or Sigismund, he received this suit of armour made by Lorenz Helmschmid of Augsburg as an Imperial gift for the occasion. Helmschmid was the preferred armourer of the Emperors Frederick III and Maximilian I. This armour represents the pinnacle of the armourers' art, and is typical of the late German Gothic style with its fluted surfaces and graceful lines. - All steel 20 ga. everywhere except 18 ga. helmet top. - features historically fluted lines. - historically accurate gauntlets with fine quality deerskin leather gloves. - includes oak base and steel stand.
