A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!!

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, 2 y' o% N9 D$ F3 j% I

5 S1 C) y8 C2 F! F: K" zI saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.   I; z: }3 ?$ W; n; [! \

8 D8 V/ F9 e* o9 K- s+ @+ R6 RHis name was Kyle. 6 h& }5 d* D1 o5 A% B! S$ Q5 y
, }: |) ?) D" \( Z# v, c
* c: H5 m% ]1 b4 X: B
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
: E6 j0 u2 z* a; U9 L4 e
8 E- o1 V( |: j" E0 g: A1 L- @1 B1 A) `6 E% h9 u
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? 6 }6 b6 q: W) u  y% {: ]- n
+ a0 h: ?5 o' I2 p$ f. O# E
He must really be a nerd." : E" x' K8 h6 g( F

2 j$ S$ U9 G' T% V# P, I7 l5 \' V9 E  I' x
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
; L' E, S0 p/ N7 D6 a0 \) d* E1 n- |' Y3 U6 \. |, O

- _# H% R0 P. t+ ZAs I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
: @0 ]6 A& \5 c3 N' W( S
7 `* V: H6 W7 F9 g- u* ~, N4 b) {7 b9 H) b
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. ; Y7 m/ T4 [1 j! f, a7 k3 t' m3 _' h

  |5 A( v$ m$ v  c# ~
, U# W( Z2 c) C7 m1 `- E) p0 A# `His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. , V6 B, H* V4 f) `$ m
9 [6 D6 `8 Z: g
/ ~( ?9 m/ h/ w  F
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes / Z0 L7 R' m6 t# ]- g
' F" R& I* M+ K- C% e" T

* @) }" I: d" y! C, O* VMy heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
; Y- y2 C, U* q& M" y$ Y/ p
% E# p2 I) R- i) o$ V7 }. {
4 t7 S3 R2 z2 L8 H3 H* x6 FAs I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
; ]* z" u+ r3 K1 X- d, v6 q6 U4 v) u  W0 M% c* S/ b) q
/ x4 @  Y& K& Z1 o5 C
They really should get lives
5 ]% Y1 ~- x4 C7 n
/ W4 @! q5 k9 N
& q# V2 z% A/ F8 _" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
* g8 H6 F& ~4 j& {7 o; }; c7 Z
6 C: J6 ~+ f4 ]$ A2 a) G/ W6 d- o3 \7 Q! G5 g' k, J
There was a big smile on his face.
* Q, b; C3 a3 V/ Z+ N% O* A" h8 k! K* Y7 E5 u

& d4 W1 \2 l/ kIt was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
8 s# e8 D* d6 V- {5 K7 I: o0 ]# a2 P1 Q) T

( M+ u2 o0 n% W, o* a, ^4 O  \3 A& T+ ^
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived
  ]! A0 b4 G* K! s% x7 D7 z6 L! N$ W$ W8 i. S9 B

9 N. Q$ ]5 Z6 i% n4 yAs it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. " a) A1 l9 I- F" U3 ?
7 y8 e. F3 c$ s8 M
He said he had gone to private school before now.
5 t) q7 g& b' e# F# @7 Z) i8 `% X2 A- x
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. " f& V; Y* V! u/ j2 y
  w% Y+ ]3 V# [+ ]. L% Y
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. 4 O- V4 n0 h: x$ V- D/ e7 a6 O+ O( \
9 }. `, W7 h% Q( r
% R, o: L  ^3 F, n3 o9 J/ N$ n
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
- A/ b" Y5 M0 m; V; U5 Z/ b% l' N" O& N
1 J0 k' S, S$ ]' s! }& l$ r
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends   v; I3 D  M* G

- u: Z% x$ x# ?! L1 k; _4 ^, p" B5 o; @He said yes. " s$ z4 f0 e  C& Z% V0 O
; w$ G2 J: Y1 j

6 c6 e% {, g) V  y& wWe hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
0 W' u$ k- L$ F* R1 U* Y4 b( h7 V& Z, J8 C0 G
! Y. L. N6 H& J* X9 v# N$ u
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. . G" m8 g( c# u# o- A

, H, Y: ?6 Y# V: V0 i% vI stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
/ q0 A; R% \+ @2 W
+ o' O$ _) U% B# f
9 h% M* H  g. [0 m$ k# r"He just laughed and handed me half the books. 0 L8 O! U' r& ?6 P! B) u, n
% d  w  H8 r0 p

# v# X7 G+ @9 dOver the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. + C. L" O. J) S; ^! B
  T5 H) L# b5 n

( B" a6 F' d- L( x7 s9 qWhen we were seniors, we began to think about college.
9 ]* {1 a9 {; H' p% f+ n7 C+ O. i' Q5 j- {1 O" m
$ K1 C% z) j9 F! k& N( D* r/ M( f
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I
/ u1 L5 k' T- H% Dwas going to Duke.
! {$ A/ u1 P* e/ @" u/ |6 e. d2 _9 n2 F7 i: p6 y& ?

  m7 U2 z! q; a9 ^I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. * D: q3 F) [3 o) P* O5 L
0 c( l; `2 r$ p2 s8 C: V

" O" K/ L# e8 G' n1 r4 [2 gHe was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
& ~0 N9 x; u0 r; b; L5 ~+ e  i2 z; S* D+ A3 R0 C* c9 ~% A1 l& N5 d

# _6 A! X* n6 k: r8 I( C8 t' t' B. z: _2 `+ r

: Z8 S( u4 ?0 z& @% BKyle was valedictorian of our class.
4 U9 d2 V3 J2 F; l3 s- Y8 |3 y. D0 a9 d/ T! q  h: e% o4 x$ J7 ]  T
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
+ _; X  M' r/ ^0 Y3 ~. p3 Z2 U. q8 j+ n

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.   f5 a, A; }% |# |' m) D8 {
) @8 ]8 M. x! q. b* I: O

4 @& Z1 i) R8 t. H" MI was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
9 `+ G1 ?+ l7 T; |( `, g9 V3 J- t

& W, E5 o- ?. yGraduation day, I saw Kyle. 3 S) D2 {2 m8 a/ T" Z' e

/ m2 W: G+ y! b' H! c8 C' o& B) d2 g. X6 M
He looked great.

. }- B/ f' v6 P. T% A
9 }& o- A- E% ?5 w+ M- gHe was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. # Y/ v" d5 B1 i

' w7 Z; E1 X" `; M( }He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. , M$ a/ U5 a, z4 c3 c/ S' }

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him. ( L$ ?% b9 [- I

$ i# \; ~& ?0 R! t: o1 DBoy, sometimes I was jealous. ! d6 V4 g' q+ D# ^. W
  U( w2 K" u; o
  v1 G, Y2 S, d# z+ b+ D% @" X
Today was one of those days.

/ m6 L- R6 A+ ^- a+ R
: l! o5 V6 ~* _/ c- k8 }) h; x$ D( _" \3 e2 _9 \
I could see that he was nervous about his speech. $ p3 q7 e& G8 A

7 |, ^% I8 R( b5 t7 M9 T7 `" h) g" W+ k+ f$ a& L- d  n
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" 3 \6 U( c2 Y5 \% r$ |% }* V
. `+ Q( O6 z: r% ?& h5 r
& f5 P( B* j, G6 F1 d9 ~* t/ U
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. 0 r( ~- ^& W% ~7 F
( O+ n' n2 k1 f1 i
" n& z2 |9 |) f* X6 J) C: l

$ H3 m) a  N' e# C: M1 E"Thanks," he said.
' l3 H  m8 t3 b: B, q) ~* t1 ^
1 U. u% E5 |$ x, [, ^. f/ e2 t1 c0 K9 j4 A

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
! r1 z9 _+ x1 D4 }! |! b% l& r4 }. p$ {2 T

, ^9 q2 g3 Z' w% \
3 W: N9 V9 v- D2 I( b+ Z# _
7 o/ O* H8 n) P0 j0 l"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. , s) ^6 S1 T. g  `* U
6 [" O6 F" J' f+ N5 z6 N
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends...
. A0 K2 I- u+ H0 ~4 j: o
! S2 A. d1 J8 C* _+ l7 H" G1 h/ j; p. r8 B+ A# q7 f( S- [+ [
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. " F: W# U5 ~+ M; F4 a

( p* d6 k$ V, h, o" `I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. # s* L# q+ G  l1 t- H& c

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. & r/ V+ _3 f6 I' ?) A1 c  b

0 m3 r# E' S$ w) [/ j4 v( q( T6 Q! x/ y, E5 m0 T
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. . y& z9 \9 x! {2 \# c
; Z) A3 `6 |8 {5 f
$ @' g( L' Q5 `/ r3 M; f+ n
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
& Z* ~4 A2 @1 `7 m* g! W7 y* }3 Q; C, C
"Thankfully, I was saved.
0 I5 H8 u4 Y& B( _0 w  ^
: Z* {( K7 K% f( a& g6 j9 ?- u: w

$ [) J7 o5 x& l% nMy friend saved me from doing the unspeakable." . ?$ m8 ^: n! J  c0 D$ _
- m% n# `3 f3 F; R9 l" y; `4 w
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. ' w9 z9 i/ ~+ P1 z% l8 h
, }- N8 Y/ _& x# h5 j$ L  E
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
6 R8 \0 l& r) F  a2 Q  p% ^1 w; L2 i, A' t7 y
Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
, q' ]8 p! T. t/ ?' V- h% t+ p( Q1 G
Never underestimate the power of your actions.
4 t3 f5 u# l8 X0 ~" D
& N7 b! f" x0 q  A2 f4 a7 {. eWith one small gesture you can change a person's life.
$ Y/ W5 V" N9 N3 R7 j# o4 c$ {4 q6 _- ?% i0 u
For better or for worse. ( |7 o9 G* }" T
' B; R; Y. B' j# D6 T- P
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. - h# A, \7 d4 z( e9 {0 c
, E' q6 j) A7 X2 e+ y2 i
Look for God in others.

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me...
