A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!!

, A! ^0 [6 \2 T2 u  e! [5 G4 n$ vI saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. + Q* L5 n; T, _0 `: _: D
# C. r- o, b7 ~
His name was Kyle.
) v0 _, F5 g2 O9 }& G/ W
* s% \% ]& v: p. G9 O  G
+ n8 }5 t- ~5 Q# a& SIt looked like he was carrying all of his books. 0 s3 B2 }4 V5 z0 I

. |) B$ @  D6 }' s9 }5 |' M% I: p8 s% N
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? # E3 A# O/ x3 X( N
$ A* ]3 t7 M) D: C" [' B$ j, x
He must really be a nerd."
& v! A, A: ~: V* K% t1 r2 x9 S' N- R' W. n& @0 E0 B4 H
4 ?) H  c' M: R1 H
I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. 1 q, C1 b! `8 |0 @9 l3 f; g
' L* E3 Y" S: s" f' G  H
3 w7 q, ]( ?0 e& ~$ `
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
' W/ H6 z. S/ {7 |8 ?) ?8 f1 m, m# C; p7 D) n# ?
2 ~4 _" {) I9 B3 T
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
% u/ ^7 d2 p5 r: ~# X" N9 L
/ `; W8 F- C5 [9 b4 w5 Y) r4 ]) ]
5 \, a+ f' k' D' eHis glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. 8 n0 ]) ^; n0 {! J5 v' k

% d$ q: m5 O0 ?3 ~" n; o
( h4 x  D* A# W) m0 DHe looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes & o6 F2 D# v9 H
0 T) e4 A- w/ c0 z( P

6 C' c( j2 v! E6 z8 H; B$ UMy heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. . L/ u$ ~. [+ C) [7 w* X
% _1 t7 R3 e& x
+ I& ]0 e7 d+ W& S8 r. O
As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
# n  ?; R5 k0 z' [" e& u2 K' f& c* x& V9 s' M4 d+ W5 `, C3 `
/ d% j9 z/ D% D  U7 m) y
They really should get lives
  x/ G/ N: E3 b, K: i. s8 N! l+ V1 P& D; e' `5 ^  k  }+ `

, g1 `0 P! T5 N" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
2 ?4 ~+ E5 Q# t+ R1 v- h& S/ G/ J- j# G5 d) U! x$ _

+ e9 C4 Z4 c1 I) `There was a big smile on his face.
' A( z* P7 t9 Y$ V0 @0 H* S( O+ P; }& v6 O" Q
+ v; m$ j- u* x% l) Z( i
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
& o) ]4 W/ m1 E4 v% u
" E/ I( i+ t+ o7 ]$ t2 @& c8 D  V5 ~- j
, |4 j9 T$ o7 N0 B4 G4 r6 P
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived 8 r! p' K; L+ J  z9 x
- W+ N% z/ Z  e9 h. s- j

2 Y7 c$ T3 s9 w" s4 K7 CAs it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
3 v! S6 F* S2 C. V1 p1 i; `+ {# S5 @
He said he had gone to private school before now. 9 w7 x& y* _7 |; D8 T
/ p* f/ x, U' b$ k; q
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
7 D% ?) o, U$ @/ j5 Y
7 M6 N9 O, P2 B5 V- i) O3 }3 P/ H- RWe talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.

4 `, X# f. {7 n7 f. \5 `+ f# N" h5 B% ?7 t6 _/ X6 N( R
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. 2 y4 X' {, p: }: b% H
, r' s& D% w8 a7 O
# D/ i  b" C+ G4 U$ z
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends 6 `; o% H$ s: n0 K$ P
. k6 X1 H+ d2 c4 N
He said yes.
8 `+ k$ V+ ^" Z- A! o; p* w( S* G( U- P9 M4 U, V6 _# t

( v. J# Z3 n7 E. f+ z7 _, _- Z! tWe hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. / ]1 V! Q0 x$ j; i  d5 A
$ X0 t( O3 ]+ N; R# a2 y
9 |' P9 v1 U7 k' p
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
: l% H  B3 {' k9 q3 X# {9 z* ~1 n
" t  u, U# i! ZI stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
  Y0 `6 B% \) |' M/ U3 C
8 E* d  N  p/ v/ A) E! ~" n  v) w+ h& B3 M" p+ Y- z: ~
"He just laughed and handed me half the books. 0 F$ i5 ~; f4 ~- G, [0 ^# M: w

% k0 G# I3 X6 k! {# B' R
& K4 Z/ _7 q, ^# Q0 Z& h0 F8 JOver the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. 8 n7 v  X0 p5 K2 i
7 H# |, g7 I$ M+ d$ r
# F& E2 [1 U. {3 F' Q# ]3 n
When we were seniors, we began to think about college. " D" t+ M0 e6 e' k8 D  L

; M- i, M) x9 x' F4 j) d$ O2 \3 {' ?( ^& J. R
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I ; @$ z% L4 e, |# A" E4 C
was going to Duke. 3 g7 Q' V7 k7 U7 _. i$ e

5 a2 n3 w* P/ G+ H% c6 i& s4 O  D; q
' k& s, D# }$ AI knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
+ k3 f+ M; c, b/ J3 O
  v) T' B, f9 ?: c0 F0 K. Y% B, a8 B" z: ]" C- D/ v
He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
( t$ {; [! s: Y5 L

& s5 b/ t4 ^: Q  @* Y% X/ i% H- h( y, ]  S+ |3 C
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
* g0 l3 z: ?' p' ^4 K/ {3 P; W$ E) e2 s
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

" e+ ?% |. ?, e. `: D; z" q
) E( [" @& h. j* K- b. V# T' yHe had to prepare a speech for graduation. ! m7 S; ~. R! \/ j2 n; |
$ }6 P. v/ T# w; x7 T

  Y; n" i6 W; OI was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
* F# v; h, q6 U7 ?5 X
, P# o) z1 i& ^& a9 n  ?' I; U# @" q, ~* F) u- s$ W
Graduation day, I saw Kyle. - m, G% z1 y1 g1 m5 X# f
) G% K; O$ l2 t% X+ t0 C8 X% l" D

$ Z+ W; U6 D8 O' {9 v$ K8 rHe looked great.
4 U; {: A; Y2 q8 |; n9 y. v+ o+ Q  t3 b1 }

/ F; j4 ^+ N* S0 x4 ~. \He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. 8 K" R* F( @, F& N* i! M4 n

* g6 o# l0 W  A6 R/ s* P6 H! |He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. % s2 _+ A8 o8 i. l) [

- Y/ d; m  c5 y, Q8 Q  N& F9 Z/ w, hHe had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.
) G, u& _  w# X4 I  K* k9 M" A& [' _- W

' Y. Z* y  E7 V; `# wToday was one of those days.
* X- |) S) W9 s6 U" U- S& x2 r: e; W4 {/ ]3 i5 Y' W: F

I could see that he was nervous about his speech. 7 x0 M4 n# J* S4 r1 y2 P9 q$ f# A0 i

So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

5 Y% P/ o. n9 M7 mHe looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
; j1 p# Z3 B) \! A. M$ p2 r7 |9 n4 I) d/ ?5 G1 U" `9 N
! f. i: K1 u  M- V) ]- A2 I
5 g5 }8 b" F$ h9 a% }, R
"Thanks," he said.

( C4 O# G' i4 F9 T: ]5 zAs he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began 5 k- ^% m- H0 h0 x

# j( p6 B. x, a$ C- n
"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
/ C5 t# I* g1 |3 u- ?) m# M' n% p6 K8 V. G: U
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... 5 Z3 o$ {9 T) p, O' e1 m

7 T0 X6 R7 m" W6 n1 I1 t* Y% h$ ^: b' l# I; b/ q" m2 U
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
) z4 z( V1 ?+ e! t5 o
- P% b; [8 F' j1 |$ g/ T% Y+ o& @& \0 Z, _% e3 b
I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. 4 l  b3 F# \1 l6 ?' d
9 j) p. p7 I+ X8 j5 [
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. 5 {$ W" V3 @+ P6 U

4 h6 `/ }/ \& F. N- O# q. m
  }, t$ S9 _3 D& R# j9 C) k( F3 `He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. 3 t- b8 D2 Z) c  [) J

. D% L& L3 [9 X" U/ u. G4 T+ Q: {9 ]/ T% m0 f* Z( ~% l0 m
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
; F6 g; W/ b# h( w, [1 R* x* F, R) P7 h! m8 o. I
"Thankfully, I was saved.
7 L7 B! H: S2 W6 u# p8 o
, {: {3 u7 r# x3 Z; D# L0 \# Y/ X& j

2 D( X4 Y8 f/ \. d0 SMy friend saved me from doing the unspeakable." % C& A5 z/ C  |' o
; {& K# A" c4 P" \3 f) h0 j5 F; U
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment. : [' u  Z. ]) }
2 @! u6 f- b# u! d# t, R
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. & U2 y3 C7 ^* d% V1 e5 j

& f& q7 Q2 @9 X( V4 x- k; t1 @Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
8 z0 a7 y0 ]- \# K. M' Y$ y. @: [* c! h( X  C$ X9 N4 @
Never underestimate the power of your actions. * N$ L7 {' S& p* \# Y

0 U: A! ~  ~/ U/ Y1 B. aWith one small gesture you can change a person's life.
" s4 Y; e! x8 C" k/ }0 K. k" ~. p' g8 C$ J" C8 a& l* T
For better or for worse. 2 w) Z( k. c7 |9 M" g9 M2 z# k1 i: d

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me...$ `9 }% X2 _7 S9 D" B/ N# t3 A( u
